Klubnacht

Berlin-based Canadian Merlin Ettore is a pioneer of hybrid drumming, i.e. the combination of acoustic and electronic drums. This symbiosis enables him to create a complex, challenging sound in which gigantic beats meet heavily modulated timbres. In his Sorcery project, he plays with a purely electronic setup and releases on labels such as ara, run by Kangding Ray. For this weekend's Klubnacht, he will play live at Berghain for the first time. Two excellent DJs from Japan, Haruka and ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, will also be performing. For Years, Haruka has co-organized the Future Terror parties with DJ Nobu, with whom he also shares a smooth, seductive mixing style. ¥UK1MAT$U, on the other hand, is far from mellow: the Osaka-born DJ transforms his love of eclectic sounds into intense, adrenaline-soaked sets. Sepehr, a DJ, producer and label operator from the Bay Area and now based in New York, will be playing live at Säule on Sunday afternoon. His own music ranges from aphrodisiac, slow-moving acid house to psychedelic drum cocktails, and on his label Shaytoon he mainly releases electronic music by artists from West Asia.
