Without Louie Vega, the history of house music would have to be rewritten. Hardly anyone has shaped the New York music scene over the past 35 years as much as this DJ/producer who grew up in the Bronx as the son of Puerto Rican immigrants. With solo projects and underground hits such as “Deep Inside” and “Love & Happiness”, Vega shaped the house sound of the Strictly Rhythm label in the early 90s with influences from salsa, Afrobeat, jazz, hip-hop, gospel and soul, which he continues to create today with an impressive array of guest musicians and singers. Together with Kenny “Dope” Gonzales, he forms the duo Masters At Work, which has produced countless remixes (the MAW playlist on Spotify contains over 33 hours of music) for stars such as Madonna and Michael Jackson, and released one of the best all-star dance albums of all time in 1997 with their side project Nuyorican Soul. Over the years, Vega has always been an excellent DJ, now bringing the original NYC house sound to Panorama Bar. The history of techno and electronic music in general would also be missing a few important chapters without the work of Moritz von Oswald. Alongside acts such as Chicago powerhouse maniac DJ Rush, he will be playing at Berghain for this edition of Klubnacht.
