With a scant handful of EPs released on Dement3d Records between 2011 and 2015, the French act Polar Inertia has achieved cult status among fans of hypnotic and mysterious techno. “We are no one because we want to be no one, and to be no one we have to be everywhere and nowhere.” This concept from Paul Virilio's work Polar Inertia is quoted by the producers as a leitmotif. In his analysis, the French philosopher notes that people's physical movement continues to decrease as modernity progresses. It seems as if “inertia” or “stagnation” is the ultimate goal of mankind. A standstill that has been regrettable even with the increasingly rare release cycles of late, finally broken this spring with the solid album Environment Control – futuristic, dark techno, shrouded in a deep atmospheric haze. Polar Inertia are playing live today at the Finest Berghain party alongside DJs who also play minimalist, psychedelic and not overly heated techno, such as Marco Shuttle from Italy.
