Sterac is Steve Rachmad's alias for abstract, deep techno, which the Amsterdam native has been using to create an extensive, influential body of work since the early 90s. Exactly 30 years ago, he released Secret Life of Machines on 100% Pure, a debut album with understated elegance and a chrome contour that will forever be regarded as a blueprint for a timeless interpretation of the early Detroit sound. Sterac's latest releases on Somov, Delsin and Token also wonderfully demonstrate how soulful machine funk can be created through melodic and rhythmic precision. Sterac will be playing live at Berghain for Klubnacht, as will modular synth sound explorer Colin Bender. This party also brings the Berghain debut for French DJ Roulita, who describes her style as “deep, bouncy, driving, mental and dreamy techno with a glimpse of breakbeats”. Alejandra Valmorisco aka Sugar Free started spinning in her early 20s while living in Madrid, when soon DJ Hell booked her for her first international gigs, in Munich and Berlin, where she has now been living for the past several years. Her house sets are infused with proggy, colorful sounds that hover between Italo and Hi-NRG with a distinct sense of psychedelia.
