For this edition of Italorama Bar, the Slow Motion crew have two true legends lined up alongside local heroes from record store Sound Metaphor. Baby's Gang was an Italian disco-pop band founded in 1983 by producer Alfredo “Larry” Pignagnoli. He wrote and produced hits such as “Challenger” and “Happy Song” (which was covered by Boney M two years after its release) for the thirteen teenagers, including future disco queen Spagna and Denise Bonfanti, the latter of whom will be singing live tonight. For his part, Leo Mas was involved in the musical revolution of the 80s in Ibiza. From 1985 to 1988, he played at Amnesia with the recently deceased Alfredo, continuing to shape the house and Balearic sound of this still resonating decade in the years that followed. In 2015–2016, Music for Dreams put out the excellent compilation Leo Mas presents Mediterraneo: Rare Balearica Vol. 1, giving new insight into the sound of this era, characterized by casual sex and soft drugs.
